How Is NYSC Making 80 Percent Of Nigerian Entrepreneurs?

By  |  November 8, 2018

On Tuesday, the Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Sule Zakari Kazaure, said that the scheme is poised to creating 80 percent of Nigeria’s entrepreneurs.

During his visit to 2018 Batch C, Stream One corps members’ orientation camp in Tarka Local Government Area of Benue State, he revealed that the management of NYSC is working hard to ensure that corps members don’t pass out of service to become regular job seekers but become great entrepreneurs who would instead be creating jobs and employing people.

How is the feat going to be achieved? NYSC is working collaboratively with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Bank of Industry (BoI) and Bank of Agriculture (BoA) alongside other international organizations to ensure that funds are ready and available for corps members to start businesses of their choice.

The scheme is also going to enhance the present day Skills Acquisition, and Entrepreneurship Program (SAED) held during orientation camps so that the trainings will complement their dreams jobs and provide corps members with the requisite knowledge to push hard in their choicest frontiers. The DG, therefore, urged the corps members to take the scheme seriously and think to move Nigeria from a consuming nation to a production economy.

At the Benue State Orientation Camp, Joshua Simon, the State Coordinator reports that the corps members have displayed a very teachable disposition, high thinking, and learning skills. He reckons that by all indices, the set of corps members are an outstanding and promising batch whose performances have so far been impressive.

The National Youth Service Corps Scheme is a compulsory one-year program organized by the Federal Government for Nigerian graduates to serve their fatherland, learn the values of their respective places of deployment and become great thinkers in Nigeria’s growing economy.
