700+ African Fintech Industry Leaders to Gather for 8th Africa Fintech Summit

With deepened Fintech penetration in Africa, unique solutions are springing up and accelerating the growth of commerce on the continent.  From November 2-4, 2022, Cape Town will host African and global fintech stakeholders at the 8th Africa Fintech Summit to discuss these innovations, and paths to growth, as well as provide huge collaboration opportunities for scale.

The In-person/Online event is set to be held at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) and looks to welcome delegates from Africa & around the world.

#AFTSCapeTown2022 comes on the back of AFTS 7th edition in Washington, D.C., earlier in the year. The total number of in-person and virtual attendees over the past seven editions of the Africa Fintech Summit now stands at more than 5000, representing USD 4.5 B in private equity and venture capital funding.

#AFTSCapeTown2022 promises to deliver an extensive lineup of valuable engagements, including plenary sessions, networking opportunities, startup demos and exhibitions, ecosystem tours, and investor missions. Take a look at the expansive agenda and schedule for the Cape Town Edition.

#AFTSCapeTown2022 will examine the impact of the expansion of African fintech companies beyond the continent on the African and global fintech landscape, the increased investor interest in Africa, and the two-way flow of tech talent between Africa and the rest of the world.

The summit will also explore topical issues, including fintech policy and regulation, cross-border payments and remittances, local tech talent, mobile money and interoperability, blockchain and cryptocurrency use cases, corporate venture capital, intra-African trade, and more. More importantly, giving special attention to conversations on fintech regulatory frameworks for growth.

Several stakeholders in technology, fintech, banking, regulation, venture capital, and more will lead the conversations at the summit. The summit kicks off with a keynote from Lyle Horsley, Divisional Head of Fintech Unit, South African Reserve Bank; and is lined up with versatile speakers like; Tosin Eniolorunda, Founder and CEO, Team Apt; Shola Akinlade, Co-Founder and CEO, Paystack; Wiza Jalakasi, VP of Developer Relations, Chipper Cash; James Hardy, Retail Commercial Growth Lead, Flutterwave; Djiba Diallo, Senior Fintech Advisor, Ecobank; Miranda Perumal, Senior Director, Head of Digital Partnerships, Fintech, and Ventures, sub-Saharan Africa, Visa; Andres Perez and Lavina Ramkissoon, Co-Founders, Fintech Association of South Africa; Ghita Erling, CEO, Payments Association of South Africa, Clayton Howard, CEO of Ukheshe, and more

Also, through the AlphaExpo micro-accelerator, pre-selected startups will also have the opportunity to pitch to investors, learn from experts and make key connections that could lead to valuable partnerships. Past AlphaExpo cohorts have featured about 50 startups with some alumni such as Yellow Card, PiggyVest, MarketForce and PayHippo going on to raise UAD 200 M in cumulative funding post-AlphaExpo. To top it off, participants will embark on an ecosystem tour that will give them a close-up view of Cape Town’s thriving tech ecosystem that boasts of 225 startups.
