Ways To Set Your Business Apart From Your Competitors

By  |  September 3, 2018

Differentiation is an important factor in business. You have to ensure what you are offering is different from what your competitors are offering. You have to ensure it is easy for your audience to decide between you and your competitors by what you offer and how you uniquely set your business apart in the market.

How do you then ensure your offering is different from the competitors and most importantly, how do you ensure you set your business apart from them?

This startup, Friska, a restaurant, has a unique way of setting its business apart from its competitors. They leverage their competitive edge, value for money, ethical business practice, and their unique selling point to stand their business apart from competitors.

In addition, they gave three key lessons in their interview with Startup Donut, which are:

  • Come up with an original concept and/or way of delivering your product or service to your target market.
  • Do it with passion and enthusiasm.
  • If you are sold on your idea stick to it and don’t listen to every bit of feedback you get. If Friska had then we’d be serving the cake on doilies and – we’d be selling sandwiches.

Brand positioning and understanding your Brand’s Unique Selling Proposition would also help you stand out and make a mark in your industry.

Your brand positioning is how you place your brand in the mind of your target audience. It is how your target audience classifies your overall brand.

In addition, your Unique Selling Proposition is that gives your brand a unique advantage over your competitors. It is like your secret sauce that differentiates your offering. In addition, you have to invest in your customer service. Ensure you always create an exceptional customer experience whenever your customers come in contact with your brand via any of your platforms or physically. Great customer experience is still sought after by many customers, and it has a lot to do with repeat purchases and making a name for yourself in your industry. Endeavor to personalize your client’s experience with your brand; make every experience customized and tailored to the needs of your customers.

Also, don’t forget to position yourself as an expert in your field. By placing yourself as an expert in your area, you help your target audience trust your brand more and always look out for your content. Remember, your target as to first know you, like you, then trust you before making a purchase. Positioning yourself as an expert in your field can help you set your brand apart.

Finally, don’t forget to leverage the power of storytelling. Storytelling is one of the ways brands get their brand stories out there in a unique and relatable way to makes their ideal audience resonate with them and differentiate them from other brands in the market.
