You Risk Being Blacklisted By Uber If You Vomit In Their Cars
Taxi-hailing app, Uber, is planning to blacklist clients who are considered “rowdy” based on their poor evaluation from drivers.
Through its new rider quality system, any complaints of ‘unacceptable behavior’ and failure to adhere to Uber’s community guidelines will restrict a rider’s access to the app.
The policy is meant to get rid of badly behaved customers who give taxi drivers a difficult time, this comes amid rising complaints from Uber drivers over unruly clients.
The bad behavior could range from colluding with the driver to break the law like ignoring speed limits to extreme scenarios of vomiting, spilling foods, especially in scenarios associated with alcohol drinking.
Using abusive and disrespectful language or engaging in ugly altercations with a driver due to the bad behavior would also get a customer blacklisted from using Uber.
Uber Country Manager Brian Njao said; “We have recently updated our community guidelines which extends the same behavioral standards to the riders that we have for drivers and we will be notifying a small number of riders that their behavior needs to improve or their access to the app could be removed — which is already done with drivers.”
In the latest notice issued to customers, Uber said that customers will first receive a warning and be guided on how to improve their rating.
Nonetheless, continued bad feedback from drivers after warnings will land the rider a temporary suspension for one week with a possibility of full deactivation.
This move comes at a time when Uber drivers in Kenya alongside Taxify and other online taxi apps are downing their tools over poor pricing and services from their app companies.
The Kenyan digital taxi drivers, therefore, want to operate under SACCOs like matatus saying that this will give them a voice and a point of engagement with the App companies.
