A Ghanaian Agritech startup known as Cowtribe has emerged as the winner of the Ghanaian leg of Seedstars World contest. The startup now stands a chance to pitch for up to USD 1 Mn equity investment at the final that will involve startups from all over the world.

The last edition of Seedstars, which held in April, was won by AgroCenta, another Ghanaian startup. The present event took place in the University of Professional Studies, and among nine startups that participated in the leg, Cowtribe was announced as the winner. Cowtribe has now secured a place for itself in the Seedstars Summit which will hold next April in Switzerland – a conclave that is tailored to select startups innovative and competitive enough to secure the intended equity investment and other prizes.

Other Agritech startups that pitched at the event are Agro Innova, Food for All Africa, Jaarno, alongside conventional teams representing Bit Sika, Bloom Impact, CodeIn, KudoGo, Redbird, and Eazyloop.

Cowtribe is a platform that allows livestock farmers to subscribe for and have needed vaccines delivered via their mobile phones. It was founded in 2015 by Awin Peter and Alima Bawah to make provision for on-demand mobile, USD-based subscription service that connects livestock farmers with veterinarians and deliver animal vaccines as well as other livestock healthcare services to farmers. This is the same startup that was selected as one of four finalists in the MEST Africa Challenge earlier this year. The company emerged as a runner-up at the British Council’s Duapa Challenge and was also a finalist at the 2016 edition of Pitch AgriHack.
