Jobberman — the Nigerian based job portal and career platform which claims to be “the single largest job placement website in sub-Saharan Africa — has released the 5th edition of its “Best 100 companies to work for in Nigeria” report.

As has become the norm, the report is a compilation of the best and most sought-after employers across Nigeria, as voted by current, former, and prospective employees on the parameters they consider important.

In this year’s study, a total of 3,148 valid respondents, consisting of career professionals and employees from two survey sets of external and internal, were considered.

One of the standout findings from this year’s report is that 47 percent of Nigerian workers are unsatisfied with their current jobs and would ditch their current employers if better opportunities arise.

Speaking at the launch of the report in Lagos, the Chief Executive Officer, Jobberman, Hilda Kabushenga Kragha, said: ”A total of 3,148 valid responses were used in the final analysis with data from two surveys-external and internal. We discovered that Nigerians are not entirely happy with their current work situations, with most willing to switch jobs.”

Jobberman’s external survey targeted the general public while the internal survey focused on employees working at numerous companies in Nigeria.

The job portal and career platform revealed that the majority of the respondents are aged between 25-35 and 18-24 and hold at least a Bachelor’s degree. According to Jobberman, a key theme in the 2019 edition of the Best 100 Companies to Work For in Nigeria is “employee satisfaction and happiness levels.”

Below are the top 20 best companies to work for in Nigeria 2019:

In an area that Jobberman called: “Happiness Quota By Job Level”, which studies employees’ satisfaction with their employers at various job levels, the firm found that 33 percent of entry-level employees are happy with their job.

But for mid-level and senior-level, the figure is 37 percent and 22 percent respectively.

The report also reiterated how important it is for employers to understand that employee satisfaction is a major factor that can help determine the organisation’s overall well-being.

“A company is only as good as its employees on any given day, so, ensuring your employees are happy and satisfied not only increases your company’s productivity but your company’s reputation as well,” a summary of the report reads.

Part of the recommendations is that rigorous strategies be put in place by organisations to ensure, measure, track, and improve employee satisfaction.

According to the report, Nigerian employees are most satisfied when they can relate to a company’s vision, have full transparency with management, and have flexibility in the execution of their tasks.
