Recruitment agency BrighterMonday has released a survey showing the top 100 best companies to work for Kenya in 2019.

The company has ranked Safaricom as the best company to work for.
This is not the first time the telecom is being ranked best company for its employees. In 2018, Forbes business magazine ranked the telecom as the best employer in Africa and 67th in the world.

Second, in the BrighterMonday list is liquor maker East Africa Breweries Limited (EABL). United Nations, Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) and Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) followed in the list respectively.

“This report not only features the nation’s most prestigious companies from various industries, as voted by Kenyans but also serves as a staple benchmark for all prospective employees to assess the key characteristics that make companies top of mind for current and future employees,” the company said in the report.

Others that appeared in the top 10 list are; Kenya Pipeline Company, KenGen, audit firm PWC, Coca Cola and Kenya Airways in sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth positions respectively.

A total of 3,448 valid responses were used in the final analysis. The survey was conducted both externally and internally. The external survey targeted the general public while the internal survey focused on employees working at numerous companies in Kenya.

The companies listed were voted by former, current and prospective employees.

In coming up with the top 100 list, the survey considered a number of ” key characteristics that make companies top of mind for current and future employees.” The attributes included; pride, culture, career growth, diversity, inclusion, and competitive pay package.

Worthy to note, the report highlighted that the gender pay gap still exists and which it said is affecting the level of contentment amongst women in the workplace, “who feel less valued and more likely to switch jobs.”
